Overall purpose of the job
The Assistant Manager for Public Networking is responsible for cultivating relationship with active netizens in mainland China through social media and other online and offline channels. S/he works with the Line Manager to take leadership role in setting and implementing strategic direction in the responsible areas, building up Greenpeace's capability to engage the public, and maintaining the integrity of Greenpeace's image as an independent, authoritative voice for the environment.
As line manager of staff, s/he is responsible for performance management, staff development and assigning staff to project teams to plan and implement effective communications, public engagement and actions, utilizing a wide range of channels and tools.
The post holder may be assigned to lead projects or to design and implement communications strategy for projects, which may involve other regions Greenpeace operates in.
Reporting to the Head of Communications & Action Unit, the post holder assumes a significant line management responsibility of the Unit in Greenpeace East Asia's office in Beijing.
The post holder demonstrates considerable independence and initiative, and provides leadership for the planning, development and implementation of strategy in responsible areas across the whole program.
The post holder provides direction and guidance to external consultants and temporary staff, as required.
The post holder prepares, monitors and controls expenses and budget, as required.
Conceptual tasks, Strategy development and/or Project management
1.Set and implement program-wide public engagement strategies, utilizing social media and other online and offline channels, to broaden and deepen relationship with active netizens.
2.Identify and implement ways (e.g. training, use of new methods and tools etc) to enhance Greenpeace capability to engage the public and inspire public through action.
3.Provide strategic advice on public engagement, networking with influencers and use of action in campaign strategies and projects.
4.Analyze performance in social media and action to generate useful lessons for work.
5.Keep abreast of trends in social media, action and fields related to public engagement to ensure Greenpeace's work methods are up-to-date.
1.Generate attractive content for Greenpeace's own social media channels in mainland China.
2.Implement effective public engagement strategies and actions to support campaign goals.
3.Maintain and develop relationships with online opinion leaders, external agencies and contacts in responsible areas.
4.Liaise with other Greenpeace offices and Greenpeace International on issues related to responsible areas.
1.Lead, motivate and manage staff in line with the organizational aims and objectives to ensure effective staff performance and that staff development, training and performance reviews take place. Inspire and encourage staff to be innovative in all aspects of their work. Mentor staff to be more effective in their areas of work.
2.Allocate staff to projects and provide knowledge-based guidance to the design and implementation of plans related to responsible areas. Coordinate staff capacity and tasks according to agreed program priorities.
3.Recruit, cultivate and manage activists for actions.
4.Oversee that training is organized to enhance skills and capacity in responsible areas.

Specific Work Environment
1.The position works in a standard office environment, and is required to travel to other Greenpeace offices, campaign locations or locations where environmental problems require the presence of Greenpeace representatives.
2.Be on call after hours and on weekends as requested.
3.The post holder will be required to work under pressure and in physically or mentally challenging environment.
This position's salary range is from RMB15000-20000/month.
The salary is evaluated based on relevant working experience.
